All students are expected to maintain a high standard of personal appearance. The following is school dress:
- A V neck, grey jumper with blue striped border, with long sleeves and the school badge;
- School tie with the correct house colour;
- Plain white shirt (not a blouse or polo shirt);
- Smart full-length black or charcoal (dark) grey trousers*;
- Plain black leather or leather look school shoes that fit below the ankle;
- Black ankle length socks (trainer socks are not permitted);
- Plain black belt (optional);
- School Lanyard.
*The academy will apply a common-sense approach to the definition of smart, however, leggings, chinos, skinny jeans, denim trousers, jeggings or non-school trousers including those that are cropped in length will not be permitted.

Appropriate footwear:
All students must wear:
- Plain black leather, patent black leather or leather look, polishable school shoes or ankle boots without any coloured or reflective strips/logos/stitching or tags.
- Laces on shoes or ankle boots should be black and all shoes should have a flat sole.
Inappropriate footwear:
Students are not permitted to wear:
- Shoes or ankle boots that are decorative (i.e. diamantes, fur trimmed), trainers, trainer style shoes or ‘leisure’ shoes (including those which are leather or leather look), sandals or backless footwear.
All students are expected to take a full and active part in all PE lessons and therefore must have their PE uniform with them for their lessons.
PE Uniform for students in Year 7 -11
- The Morley Academy White Sports Shirt;
- The Morley Academy Reversible Sports Shirt/Rugby Shirt;
- Plain Shadow Stripe Shorts/Navy Plain Shorts (no logos);
- Plain Navy Football Socks (no logos);
- Football boots – failure to bring Football boots will result in 3 negative comments as these are required for health and safety reasons;
- Shin Pads.
Optional
- Plain Navy Tracksuit Bottoms (these can be purchased as students will be participating in PE lessons outside in all weather).
- Skins – students may also choose to wear black or navy skins underneath their PE shorts.
- Planner – provided by the academy;
- 2 x black pens;
- 2 x pencils;
- 1 x purple pen;
- 1 x green pen;
- 1 x black non-permanent whiteboard pen;
- 1 x rubber;
- 1 x ruler;

It is an essential part of academy life that students take pride in their appearance and that this is suitable for a school environment.
Jewellery: students are allowed to wear a watch (smart watches/ fit bits are not allowed), one discreet ring per hand and one earring per earlobe – small stud only. These must be removed for PE. No other piercings are allowed. Students are not permitted to wear necklaces and bracelets/bands (other than for faith reasons), however, students are allowed to wear one charity band. Students are also not permitted to wear facial/body piercings including clear retainers.
It has been a long established rule that all items of jewellery are removed before taking part in any PE lessons/activities. Failing to remove items of jewellery could result in students sustaining an injury which could be avoided. To this end, students need to be able to remove items of jewellery, such as earrings, before taking part in PE lessons/activities. As a consequence, this does mean that if students are wanting to have their ears pierced, this must be carried out during the summer holiday to allow for the healing process to take place. If students have their ears pierced at any other time of the year, they will still need to remove the items of jewellery as directed by the teacher.
Make Up: Appropriate make-up is allowed and is defined as foundation (appropriate to the student’s skin tone), black or brown mascara which should be worn discretely, a small amount of neutral eye shadow if required. No eyeliner, blusher or bronzer is to be worn. Fake eyelashes are also not to be worn and nails must be of an appropriate length. Nails should be natural in colour; coloured nail varnish and/or false nails are not permitted. If students do not comply with academy policy then they will be sent to their Pastoral Support Officer/ Student Services and will be required to wash it off – a negative comment will be issued.
Fake Eyelashes: are not permitted.
Nails: Nails should be of an appropriate length and natural in colour; coloured nail varnish and/or false nails are not permitted.
Hairstyles: Students must not have patterns or lines cut into the hair. Colourings should be subtle and of natural colours only i.e. no pinks, red, blues or purple, two tone colour patterns or dip dye. Students with inappropriate hairstyles will be placed in isolation.
Hair accessories: must be appropriate in size and colour for sensible and safe work. Hair Scrunchies/bobbles must not be worn on a student’s wrist. Hair clips must not be attached to blazers/jumpers/shirts/ties.
Tattoos: Tattoos must not be visible.
